Once again our visit to Clacton Golf
Club was a great day, starting with a superb Full English Breakfast including the fried bread that none of us should really
have!! The sun shone, albeit a tad windy, and the course was in great condition with the greens running true. As always, the
club looked after us very well.
Our thanks go to the birthday boy Phil Walsh, & Phil Bird for sponsoring
the day and providing excellent prizes.
We were playing for the David Green Shield, and the
winner was John Owens with 37 points off a handicap of 22, second Ron Arnold with 36 off 21, and with both Roy Farrer and
Andy Hemsley on 34 points, Andy took third place off the lower 15 handicap.
The nearest the pins
were won by Craig Teagle at the 2nd, Alan Tappin at the 5th, Gary Boyes at the 7th, Luke Butler at the
15th and Phil Bird at the 17th . The guest prize was won by John Gascoine a guest of Chris Jones.
All the scores, revised handicaps etc. can be seen on the following pages.
The first round of the annual match play competition was played and all the results can be seen
on the Match Play page along with draw for the 2nd round.
The
early leader in the Captain’s Trophy is John Owens on 22 points with Roy Farrer and Andy Hemsley not far behind but
early days.
The next golf day is at Harpenden Golf Club on Wednesday 14th May. Details are on the Golf Days Page.
